There is no other route to Everest base camp that is as demanding as the three-pass trek. Here, you get to gracefully embrace the beauty of the Khumbu region its majestic landscapes, the way of life of the locals, and religious and cultural landmarks. The Three Passes Trek is the most thrilling trek we offer that involves exploring the Everest region. You get to see how geography elevates to give rise to the world’s highest mountains. Every mountain you see here has its history, and every village we pass has its own story.
If you want to trek in Nepal, you must be prepared for some adventure. A mountain pass connects two remote regions, and it’s commonly known as a ‘la’ in Nepal. Mountain passes are challenging to cross, particularly if you are trekking. The Everest Three Passes trek is perfect for thrill-seekers and adventurers, who must climb three passes above 5,000 meters. Three of the highest passes in the Khumbu region are Kongma La Pass (5,535/18,159 feet), Cho La Pass (5420 meters/17,782 feet), and Renjo La Pass (5,340 meters/17,520 feet). Crossing each pass offers panoramic views that are difficult to surpass, and it connects the gorgeous alpine valleys.
Overview
Starting from the North East it crosses the Kongma La pass arriving in the Imja Khola valley. From here it heads up to Everest base camp and Kala Patthar. The trail then goes over the Cho La pass into the Gokyo valley. Finally, it passes through Renjo la Pass to reach Dudh Koshi valley. En route, we will summit three great peaks Gokyo Ri, Kala Patar, and Chukhung Ri. The three-pass trek is less traveled than the classic Everest Base Camp Trek where you will have false whims of climbing the mountains as there is the proximity of these mountains within the reach.
While no technical gear is required, the trek is physically demanding and maybe a tough test of your physical endurance. The steep slopes, cold climate, and fierce winds are always present to challenge you. Our guides are always ready to assist you through these tough passes with the proper instructions. In addition to having a good physical condition, acclimatization throughout the entire climb is also crucial, and we have planned the itinerary with adequate rest and acclimatization prior to beginning our journey.
