Useful Information: Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is mandatory for travellers visiting Nepal for adventure activities such as trekking, peak climbing, etc. Apart from this travel insurance, covers unexpected expenses like trip cancellation, flight accidents, medical insurance, luggage loss and other losses incurred while travelling. Being insured before trekking would give you extra assurance and peace of mind.
Mountains are always unpredictable and even more when we move at higher altitudes. It is not a question of great technical difficulties or dangers, but a simple ankle twist and health concerning symptoms may force us to give up our itinerary. Also, altitude sickness if not detected early can have serious consequences. Having said that we guarantee you that we are sincerely conscious of your trips and well-being and will do every bit of action to help you.
In Nepal, most of the trekking routes are far away from a road and medical assistance, to rescue a person by land can be long, and painful, and ever it can put the life of the patient at risk. For this reason, we consider it mandatory you have insurance including helicopter rescue in the high mountain in Nepal. If you are from a mountain federation usually, they cover it but better be sure before the trip.
Most Insurance companies have medical assistance policies for travellers to which you can add a supplement that includes mountaineering, trekking, and other adventure activities, with a reasonable final price. We will ask for a copy of the card or insurance before the trip. If you consider you don’t need it or you don’t want it, it will be under your responsibility and you will sign a document in order you agree to travel without helicopter rescue insurance, but of course, we cannot recommend that to you.
Ways: For High Altitude Trekking -Get Insured from Mountain Federations
For Normal Tours- Normal Travel Insurance agencies
#Note: It is not necessary to have travel insurance for Short treks In Nepal which are generally done on the lower elevations up to 3500m.
