Poon Hill is a beautiful hill station to watch the beauty of the Mountain ranges. The vantage point is located on the lower circuit of Annapurna Range and offers the exhibition of mountains like Annapurna South, Annapurna II III IV, Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Barahi, and the famous Thorang La pass.
The major highlight of this trekking is reaching Poon Hill station (3200m) at sunrise. From this viewpoint, the best observation of the first golden beams of sunlight touching the mountain tops can be seen. Slowly it showers the rays over the waves of the mountains, stretched on the horizon throughout the north side and to the hills in the area. Indeed it is a dreamy place, and like many destinations, it holds a significant place in the trekking’s popular destinations. The classic Trek that leads mesmerizingly close to Annapurna Range is well-loved and re-known for short trekking in Nepal. It is a family-friendly trek and will be the perfect escape from city life and to initiate your adventurous soul. No risk of altitude sickness, lightweight backpacking, well-managed trials, and availability of commodities and services during a trek has made it family-friendly and the place has been able to win many tourists’ hearts and continues to do so.
Overview
Ghorepani Poon hill trekking starts from Nayapul, a quick drive from Pokhara. From there, we trek to Tikhedunga, then to Ghorepani. The following morning, as early as 4 am, we will trek to Poon Hill. After spending an amazing time at the Poonhill top, we will descend to Nayapul. And finally, drive back to Pokhara and take a trip back to Kathmandu.
This trek helps you keep close to nature’s heart and the communities of Nepal. We already are in a remote area so the vibe of being in the city will already have been gone. With a small comprehension of the lifestyle, activities, religious practices, communities, and their way of living, we will get ready for nature’s fascination. The terraced slopes, lush vegetation, paddy fields, the small streams from hills, and waterfalls give you views for a day. Moving on the refreshing mountain air, the clear sight of mountains, and the warm hello of people make the trip more exciting. In the lucky season, you can see red and white rhododendron blossoming all over the hills, this adds to the beauty of the hills and villages nearby.
Passing over these villages through the thick Jungle, and up many stairs before reaching the altitude of 3200m is the ultimate goal and destination which finally leads to the viewpoint of 3210m. Total of 51km from start to finish, this trip is fascinating for those who have very few days to spend in Nepal. The difficulty of this trekking is moderate, however, at some point, you have to walk 3500 steps to ascend which might be challenging.
